How to grow kale seeds?
To plant kale seeds, follow these steps:
1. Start by preparing the soil. Kale likes fertile, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0. Amend the soil with compost or well-rotted manure to provide nutrients.
2. Sow seeds about ¼ inch deep and 1 inch apart, with rows 18-24 inches apart.
3. Water immediately after planting and keep the soil moist while the seeds germinate.
4. Once the seedlings are about 2-3 inches tall, space them about 8-12 inches apart so they have room to grow.
5. Apply high nitrogen fertilizer once a month.
6. Keep an eye out for pests and consider organic pest control methods if necessary.
7. Harvest the kale leaves when they reach the desired size (usually 6-8 weeks after planting). To harvest, remove the outer leaves from the base of the plant first, allowing the inner leaves to continue to grow.
8. Let some kale plants go to seed at the end of the growing season. The seed pods will dry out and turn brown, and you can collect the seeds by lightly crushing the pods. Store them in a cool, dry place until you are ready to plant.
